Prepared??
Yeah! I survived January. A few bad things happened -but they always do so I wasn't surprised! At least I have power at my house! As you have probably heard there was a huge ice storm back east. People have been without electricity for about a week and they may not get it all restored until the middle of February. Think about all the complications that would cause for your family. Many families have gone to shelters but think how crappy that would be long term! Weather related problems could happen anywhere. I've been thinking how we would cope in that same situation. I read about a lady who was buying food that could be eaten cold. Luckily, we have a "camp chef" stove-but do we have enough propane to cook on it for three weeks?-I'm not sure. Another woman that was interviewed said her family just tried staying under a lot of blankets to get warm. I'm sure active children would not like to stay so confined for very long. We do have the trailer but we don't have enough propane to last more than a few days. In the house, our furnace is our only heat source. I have our 72 hour kits, I am working on getting our food storage, but I guess to be better prepared we need to check into some sort of heat source--because I don't do cold very well! (and of course, disasters probably won't happen in July!) How prepared are YOU and your family??
